I don't think I want to get in to any HD players yet but either of these two can be had at a decent price used. I have a RP CRT so I don't think macroblocking will be much of an issue but as much as I like Denon, the DV79 looks like a better unit...whaddya think?

Doug I'm not sure about the Denon unit, but I've had a Elite dv79avi for 6 months now and I'm quite pleased with it. The best dvd player I've owned as yet. I'm only using the componet video out since my older Mit. HDTV does not have HDMI or DVI inputs. The SACD play back is quite good, even redbook cd's sound better.

There's no upconversion over component on the 2910. That may be a deal-breaker for you.

I ordered a factory refurb 2910 for a good price from Ubid, and I can't wait for it to arrive next Tuesday.
