Denon 2900 Or Yamaha 2300

    Which unit is a better all around unit and why? I dont care a bit about bass managment.

    I can't speak for the 2900. I have the 2300, and along with Robert George (who has a lot better system than I have...separates, B&W, etc) and several people at AVS, find the sound quality exceptional.

    S&V measured higher-than-typical noise on the DVD-A (not SACD) section, but there has been speculation that they may have had an early, bad sample...owners of the unit don't seem to hear it.

    Video-wise, it approaches the RP-82 but does not quite meet it. The deinterlacer is fantastic, and no chroma bug to be found.

    As is typical in many cases, among those who have auditioned both (not me!), some prefer one and some the other.
