I am looking for a recevier with DPL II, 6.1, 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms and a minimum of an 80 hz xover for the SMALL speaker setting (Adjustable bass management would be best (60-100 hz?).
I have come across the Denon 2802. What price point is the 2802 going to be at? What is the sound quality of Denon receivers like so far for music (meaning, if you haven't heard the 2802, what reputation does Denon have in terms of music sound quality)? Compared to Marantz?
The 2802 has only 90 watts per channel, but thats close enough to 100, and I'll be using 6 ohm speakers, so I'm looking at 120 watts at the same distortion as the 90 watt 8 ohm rating. It also has 7.1 pre-outs, which is nice.
Any experience? Opinions? Are the 2802's out in the US yet?

As far as I know (I have contacted several local dealers and .com dealers), they all say that the 2802 will be available soon in late August or early september. 2802 is shipped to dealers later than 3802. About price, most of them don't know for sure yet. The best I got is $725 at my local dealer. Well, please let me know when you get 2802 below $725. thanks

I checked with a Denon dealer today and they said 45 days until the 3802 and 2802 are available. Approx MSRP in Canadian buckaroos is $1999.00 for the 3802 and $1450.00 for the 2802. Man do we Canadians get ripped when buying Denon!

I own the Denon 3801 and love it. However, the newer Denons weigh less than the older ones and boast more power. The 3802 weighs a pound less and adds 5W more per channel. The 2802 barely weighs 23 lbs. I don't know why Denon is skimping.

Barely 23 lbs? From Denon's web site, 2802 weighs 25 lbs 6 oz, 2 oz more than 2801. [IMG]

I have a 3801 and a 2801 in my bedroom. I have been listening to Denon for 15 years and have been very satisfied. I still have my first Denon integrated amplifier the PMA-920 that is powering a pair of old Infinity studio monitor's in my rec room. Still sounds powerful and clean. Im planning on selling my 2801 to a friend and buying the 2802 since my bedroom is the only place I watch cable and VCR.
