Denon 2800 Version 2.0? (1 Viewer)

This was posted on another forum. According to a German web site there will be a revised 2800 in April. The site only mentions updated video DACs (108 MHz/12-Bit). We could hope Denon uses the new ESS MPEG decoder (no chroma bug) and the SiI504.

I saw that. It looks interesting, but very close to the 3800, I wonder if we will get the new 2800 here in the US ??

I was about to pull the trigger on the 3800 to replace my deceased 2800 but I really don't need DVD-Audio. If this updated version doesn't have the chroma bug it could be just the ticket. If they keep the MSRP the same it wouldn't cost me anthing as my dealer agreed to give full credit on my old 2800 even though it is out of warranty .

How do we find out more about this player and when/if it will come to the US?

I wonder why they have not mentioned it before now??

Because everyone would wait until the new one came out and they wouldn't be able to clear the stock of the current model.
I've been seriously considering the DVD-2800, but am having second thoughts now. I'll probably wait until the release of the DVD-3800 next month, but I'm not sure I want to spend that much on a DVD player, especially no more than I'll probably end up using it. I'll probably end up getting the DVD-1600. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll release a newer model of the DVD-2800 soon -- I can hope, can't I?

My sources tell me the 2800 MKII will be available in late April or early May. It is essentially a 3800 w/o DVD-Audio. MSRP is expected to be $849. It makes sense to keep the 2800 in the lineup to fill the gap between the 1600 and 3800. Take all this with a grain of salt.
