My Denon 1803 has just been recently shutting off. I have used it without any problems for a little over a month, but now it's clicking off. It seems to shut off when I turn up the volume past -18 or so. I've checked all the speaker wire thinking that maybe they were touching and the receiver turned off as protection, but nothing is touching anything else. Please help with some suggestions. thanks

You may be pushing your receiver too hard.

Does it get warm before it shuts down?
What is the max volume setting on your receiver?
What speakers are you running (more importantly, what is their impedance rating)?

These questions are a good place to start.

Running the 1803 at -18 shouldn't cause an overload unless your speakers have a very high impedence. The volume control goes up to +12, if I am not mistaken, and I have run it for extended periods of time at levels around -05 to 00 without any signs of fatigue. I would check the speaker wires thouroughly one more time.
