Definitive Tech question: (1 Viewer)

I might be buying some Def Tech 700?'s for myself in a few months (maybe) - but I have some easy questions if you own or have played with these speakers:

-How do you see the drivers? Pop the top cap off and then the grill cloths drops down to reveal the drivers?

-Are all the driver surrounds made of rubber?

-Any pics of a 'naked' Def Tech powered tower? I would love to see what they look like!

-Last, how would you generally describe the sound? I am looking at 7002 or 7004, and they will be in my 13' X 13'6 bedroom and will probably be powered by a Denon 3805 - will that be enough to get some decent SPL

I own a pair of BP2002's and will try to answer some of Your questions. You are right about exposing the drivers. The surrounds on My 2002's are not rubber, but I can't say for sure about the new models. I would be glad to send pics of My speakers if You can't find them elsewhere, be advised the 7002's have an extra mid range driver that the 2002's don't.I would describe bipolar speakers as having a huge soundstage and more depth than direct radiating speakers, others will point out direct radiators image better.Even though I have yet to listen to the 7002 or 7004,I can assure You they will easily fill Your room with more than descent SPL.

What pair are You going to buy? I am intrested in the 7002's, post Your opinions after You've had a chance to do some serious listening.
