I've actually been using the Out Of Stock status to somewhat of an advantage.
With titles I'm in no hurry to get, if it takes six weeks to ship then I don't get charged right away.
I did this with the last sale too.
It helps ease the burden on my card some.
So far, I've placed one order that's ready to ship, and I'm holding out 'til the last day for a second order of OOS items.

All of my orders have shipped except for Season 2 of South Park which is backordered. I am tempted to place one more order and get all 3 volumes of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. After a few frustrating days of trying to place orders everything seems to be running smoothly now.

On my order, there is one item on backorder and it gives an expected date right there online as "~11.26/04" so you may not have to call their 800 number, just check your order status.

Of course, if you have yet to place the order, then yes you have to call...

In Illinois I always was charged, in NY with my new account (for a new card) I got charged no tax at all. That was a big deal as well.

They didn't get rid of the tax. They only have to charge tax on items shipped within Illinois since that is where their physical presence is.

Has anyone received their order from the DDD sale yet? I placed my order at about 11:30pm on the 14th, and I got an email on the 16th saying my order was shipped. I haven't received it yet, but I just wondered if anyone else has?

Should I be concerned that I never received an e-mail confirmation from DDD? My order information is available on the site and is "IN PROCESS". Everything there looks fine, but they claim I'm supposed to get an e-mail confirmation within 24 hours (it's been 2 days) in the FAQ. I have my right e-mail address listed and it's unfiltered so I'm hoping maybe it's not a big deal. Boy would I be mad if I come to find out Monday that I'm not getting my order and the sale is over.

Just got through placing a modest order before the sale ends. I got a few items I've been wanting for a while, and that I don't really expect to receive as gifts in five weeks because they're (expensive) boxsets or hard(er) to find. Kind of like an early Christmas gift for myself

Took me several attempts at reloading the final page before I didn't get an error to the effect of "could not get exclusive access to the database." Hopefully I won't get duplicate orders (I expect not).

As long as it's on the site you should be OK. I didn't get an e-mail conf from my 1st order, and it now shows as shipped.

They do appear to have been somewhat overwhelmed again, as orders are being processed a little slower than normal. But my 1st 2 orders have shipped. It's worth waiting a few extra days for some of the deals I picked up.

I wouldn't worry. From my experience, DDD has the longest time from shipping notification to when I receive the product of any online retailer I deal with. Places like Amazon and DVD Empire usually have a 2-3 day transit time, but my DDD orders take 1-3 weeks from shipping notification to when I receive the item. Either they are being shipped via the proverbial "slow boat from China" or DDD is sending out notifications before that items has actually been released to the USPS.

For deals like this, though, I do not mind the long shipping time.
