I am interested in purchasing a TV soon.

I have narrowed my selection down to the following (prices in Cdn Funds):

    Panasonic PT40LC12 (40" Widescreen) - $3149.00
    Panasonic CT-34WX53 (34" Widescreen) - $3000.00
    Sony XBR34 something or another (34" widescreen) - $3000
    Samsung TXN3098WHF (30" Widescreen) - $1799

I would like some recommendations on some of these. I am upgrading from a 12 year old 22" Sony Trinitron.

I have a feeling I will need to get a High Definition box. What happens to those channels that aren't HD, how will the picture show up on the above TVs?

How do the current HD stations appear on these TVs?
Which is the best for viewing movies?

Any other things I should be looking for? Any other tips?

I am a huge hockey fan (and am in Canada)...is the HNIC HD yet?

But most important...which would be the best to purchase?

    Thanks.
    Karim

I have the Sony 34XBR800, they now have the 34XBR910 and both of these are great sets, I looked at all the 34" sets and felt the 30" was too small for any 4:3 material and the others did not accept 720p input. The Panasonic PT40LC12 does accept 720p and looks real good whenever I go to Best Buy. I would recommend finding out what the dead pixel policy is before buying any LCD.
