Hey quick question to fans of the Deadpool comic version: did he always talk like Reynolds or was that just after the movies made him a major hit?
He broke the 4th wall and was snarky from the very early days.

I think I first read Deadpool about a year (maybe two?) after it was first published, and he was very similar to what you see on screen.

I mean, in the early 2000s, he described himself as "Ryan Reynolds crossed with a Shar-pei"

It's all a multiverse, even if the movies and characters don't interact. Just because one movie establishes a set of time travel rules doesn't mean it has to be the same for other timelines....or that those rules were even accurate.
That's why I would use the "shut up and don't think about it" approach. I'd much rather see a movie with a new story and new challengers that moves the character forward rather than something that looks backwards.

Yeah, accepting that it is still messy I’m going with the idea that what Endgame “proposed” about the rules of time travel isn’t necessarily 100% true in all cases and that there could be different methods of time travel that may have different rules.

My preference is for it all to be clean and neat and consistent, but I think we just have to accept that fictional time travel stories are generally messy and you just have to go with it.

I agree. But I'm not sure how that could be accomplished even if they wanted to try. Even the X-Men films amongst themselves are riddled with continuity inconsistencies before involving the MCU. It isn't worth Marvel's time to mess with trying to fix it at this point.

I’m fine with Deadpool 2’s time travel bits at the end. Judging from the new film’s trailer, Vanessa is alive and well, so whatever Wade did worked.

I rewatched DP 1&2 in the last few days. They really are unique among superhero movies, and it all has to do with the writing and Ryan Reynolds’ delivery. He’s someone that I can see Marvel wanting to be part of the MCU. Those films are terrific fun, and Reynolds is a delight.

(It’s worth noting that at the end of 1, he says the sequel will feature Cable, which it did. At the end of 2, using footage from the first Wolverine movie, he asks Jackman to be in the next one, and here we are.)

Reviews are in: 55 on Metacritic.

Shocker: The fanboys "early reactions" don't match up when critics see it

Metacritic tends to be lower than RT.
Yes, because:
A. They grade on a scale, so that if a critic says it's barely ok it doesn't get a 100
B. They weed out a lot of the lite and fanboy "critics" that RT uses.

That's why they are almost always more accurate to me.

I agree with point A. I always advise caution when quoting RT scores, since there's no distinction between a 7/10 or a 10/10 - for RT purposes , they're the same.

For point B, I understand the idea. But how do they decide who's "legit"? Even within the perceived circle of "legitimate" reviewers, there may be some whose biases or opinions may not always align with mine. For example, I prefer the opinions of James Berardinelli (who gained traction when the internet became more widely accessible during the mid 1990s) versus Roger Ebert (one of the respected critics).

James Berardinelli is on Metacritic!

And, it's not just a distinction between a 7/10 and a 10/10. On RT it can literally be a 5.1/10 and that's considered a rave! It's absurd.

Kevin Feige says they spoiled the appearance of the character revealed in the final trailer so that the actor in question could be invited to the premiere without their presence being a spoiler. Because some people reading this thread don't want to know, I'm putting the article itself inside a spoiler tag.

I think this is ridiculous. Keen has a preexisting working relationship with Hugh Jackman as a veteran of the franchise, which would have been. enough reason for her to be at the premiere to support him. "I really loved working with Hugh in Logan and wanted to be here to celebrate his return to the character" would have been all she needed to say to explain her presence. They didn't need to spoil the appearance in a trailer a week out just to invite that person to the premiere.
