I mean, I hope so, but this seems optimistic to me.

That seems high. But box office has been particularly unpredictable this summer. Even if it doesn't get to a $200 million opening, Deadpool and Wolverine is likely to be a big win for Disney. If the movie is good, it should easily hang around and play well into August. The only big tentpole in August appears to be Alien, which incidentally also Disney continuing a previous Fox franchise.

Agreed. Unless all theaters plan on only playing Deadpool on every screen 24 hours a day all weekend and selling tickets to people under 17, I would go so far as to say that seems like an impossibly high estimate.

Only eight films have opened to more than $200 million domestically ever. (There are probably some more if you adjust for inflation, but I don't know how to do that.)

They are:

1) Avengers: Endgame
2) Spider-Man: No Way Home
3) Avengers: Infinity War
4) The Force Awakens
5) The Last Jedi
6) Jurassic World
7) The Avengers
8) Black Panther

For the record, the highest-grossing opening weekend that did not cross $200 million unadjusted is The Bad Lion King from five years ago with $191 million.

I know people are really excited to see these characters again and I do think the movie is going to do well. But Deadpool and Wolverine would be in extremely rarefied air if it can get that high.

Did you mean to post more than a period?

Note that none of them are R-rated. I'd guess that none of the top 50 highest grossing movies are rated R.

Your guess is only slightly off.

Just to be clear, this is opening weekend only, not total gross.

The highest-grossing opening weekend for an R-rated movie is the first Deadpool. It opened to $132,434,639 in February 2016. As of right now, it is the #42 highest-grossing opening weekend ever. Deadpool 2 is just slightly under that with $125,507,153 at #46 overall.

The highest-grossing R-rated opening weekend that is not a Deadpool movie is It with $123,403,419 and #48 overall.

Those there movies are the only R-rated films in the top 50 openings. The next one down is Joker with $96,202,337 in 79th place overall.

Data here: https://www.boxofficemojo.com/chart/top_opening_weekend/

Disclaimer: I tried my best to compile this from memory but didn't actually look up the ratings on 79 movies, so there's a chance I might have overlooked something. But I think this is right.

It's not delivery, It's DiGiorno.

  • The Wade Special: A sweet and salty combo not just for mercs, made with pineapple and black olives to pay homage to Wade Wilson's pizza in the first movie.
  • Gimme Chimi: A chimichanga-inspired pizza that is a fiesta for your tastebuds and topped with spicy cumin sauce, beef topping, jalapeno, and cheddar & mozzarella cheeses.
  • Spicy Wolvie Pie: Crafted with Wolverine and other meat lovers in mind, this pie is stacked with pepperoni, chorizo, and bacon.
  • Maximum Pep: Made with maximum flavor and zero regrets -- just like Deadpool's decisions -- Maximum Pep is piled high with sliced and diced pepperoni.

The film takes place.....

In the latest issue of Total Film, we get a few more Deadpool & Wolverine breadcrumbs, including the fact it picks up six years after the events of 2018's Deadpool 2.

"He's proving to be useless at selling cars, hawking Blind Al's blood-pressure meds to make rent, and his beloved Vanessa has a new boyfriend," reads the publication's report.

Can't say for sure, but perhaps Tino posted something, thought better of it (maybe it duplicated something someone else had already said), but couldn't delete it, so he edited it to just be a period.

But that's just a guess.
That’s a BINGO!🤪

Deadpool & Wolverine fan screenings have started. The first one was in Shanghai, China. They were shown 36 minutes of the movie and a 2-minute sizzle reel.

Below are some spoilers that have been shared, these screening will be happening globally.

"Apparently, many Wolverine Variants were featured in these opening scenes, including a Zombie version of the clawed mutant. It's said the movie has a "very violent connection" with Logan's ending, though no further context was provided.

There were also lots of Deadpool Variants, with Lady Deadpool among them. Despite rumours of singer Taylor Swift being under the mask, several fans believe it's Blake Lively playing the female Merc with the Mouth based on her voice.

Here's the kicker: this Deadpool & Wolverine sneak peek reportedly ends with Wolverine facing off against The Hulk! We don't know which Variant of the Jade Giant it is but this explains why so many scoopers have been alluding to him showing up in recent days."
