    Hey Everyone,

Can LCD projectors get dead pixels?

Recently I've been noticing one single (small) bright spot that seems to merely reflect light (so to speak) when seen from one particular angle. Is this common and is it indeed a dead pixel? Or is it somehow the angle that's causing this? Am I simply looking "directly" into the pj or something, which causes to not see the image information but pure light. I don't know if this makes sense.

Also, can this have happened eventually? (I do not remember seeing it before, but maybe I just hadn't watched from that angle before....)

    Thanks, Bart

Yes it happens. Yes it can happen with time also. Manufacturers usually have a dead pixel policy in their warranty, don't know how helpful that would be to you.

I see. Well, I hope it will remain just this one pixel. And yes, I guess I sit fairly close (probably about 1.3 times the screen width), but I haven't changed my viewing behavior so I'm pretty certain this dead pixel wasn't there before (it's a panny 900, btw).

I haven't looked at the warranty policy about dead pixels yet, but I don't think they'll do much about a single one (appearing after 9 months).

Anyway, thanks for the replies. I'll look into this some more and keep my fingers crossed it won't get worse.

    Bart.
