My trusty MC-1 seems to have finally died.

It is in a continuous diagnostic test loop.

I've tried resetting the ram as per the Lexicon knowledge base info on their site but it just goes back into its loop.

I guess it's time to replace it.

Any suggestions for a simple pre amp processor that doesn't cost more than $500, or should I just get a home theater receiver with 1000 watts and use the internal amps of the receiver.

I have LCR Front Side, Rear Side and Rear speakers plus a big ol' Velodyne 18 inch Sub

Seems like a waste of really good separates (i have some terrific American built Adcom amps powering my speakers)

The MC-1 went for $2k-$3k back in 2001-02. For $500 you are not going to get much (if anything) in the new department unless you get a cheap AVR with pre-outs. Not sure any exist under $500.

For $699, you can get the Emotiva UMC-1 pre/pro.

Does anyone here have experience with the Pioneer VSX 32

I'm interested n the pre out capability, to bypass the internal amps
