Since I don't have an HDTV and don't planning to buy one anytime soon but still want a great DVD player is de-interlacing performance critical for me? How does RP91 fare in terms of de-interlace?

If you do not have a TV capable of displaying a progressive signal, then you do not need to worry about deinterlacing or progressive scan DVD players. I infer that you have a normal (NTSC only) TV from your post. Therefore, you do not have to worry about it.
