DDD music on new high res formats?

    I'm curious how albums recorded digitally for red book CD will sound on new higher resolution playback formats like SACD.

    For example, on of my personal faves, Sting's Nothing Like The Sun, shows DDD on the packaging.

    What kind of digital equipment did they use/what were the digital recording specs? Is the master recording of this music only CD quality?

    Good question. Who knows? [​IMG] Probably some 16 bit 48K Mitsubishi machine. How much better can it get? [​IMG] The DTS CD is great BTW.

    Unlike new remasters like the Kind of Blue SACD, where each one allows another peek of just how good the old analog tapes are, I'm afraid old digital masters are forever doomed to sound like...old digital masters. There's always hope, though.
