This doesn't appear to extend to all titles. For example, "Chasing Amy" and the Wes Anderson releases don't appear on the list.

That's a whole lot of temptation. [IMG]

Easy way to avoid the temptation: These titles will all be cheaper when the next 20%-off promo rolls around. [IMG]

I noticed this the other day, when all of the Criterion discs on my wish list got a lot cheaper. I think Aaron's right though, there are no sale dates, so I assume this is a price reduction. We'll see.

I would suppose there is always the chance, though, that this "price reduction" might end right before the next 20% sale.

During the last sale, some said the prices on their DDD wish list seemed to go up right before the sale started. But I don't know if that's actually true.

DVDPlanet has been running the same sale on Criterion titles, 40% off, which appeared to have started sometime last week.
The difference being is that the DVDPlanet sale is all but unadvertised.
I stumbled upon it last week while searching for a few select titles to purchase, and realized that most all of their Criterions are now 40% off.

Those titles are the ones they did as part of a special arrangement with Disney, which is probably why they are exempt.

Interestingly, from the last 20% off ddd sale, I bought Tokyo Olympiad for $23. The current price is $23.97. Still a good buy, though.

Thanks for the link Christopher. You just gave me a reason to buy Onibaba. At $17.97 I can't pass this one up.[IMG]

Nickels & dimes, but handy ammo for those "resist-the-temptation" moments!

There were some that changed price, but all the ones I saw had been selling for 50% off the week before the sale -- obviously part of a special deal that ended when the 20% off began.

    I must have missed it.

Maybe my subconscious fooled me into overlooking that small, but essential, detail. IOW, wishful thinking.

I'm still trying to recover from the spate of Holiday sales, so I'm going to have to sit this one out. Cursed budget.

BTW Aaron, thanks for clearing that up. [IMG]

I'm guessing I'd probably have a hard time finding the Kurosawa collection for less than $59.97. I was very impressed when I rented Seven Samurai.. should I break down and get this?

They're supposedly rereleasing Seven Samurai this year with a new, anamorphic transfer (and maybe new extras?). Hopefully they'll replace the current Kurosawa box with one containing the upgraded Seven Samurai -- it's probably worth it to hold out and see. You can always snag it at the DDD 20% off sale for about the same price as it is now.

I don't know about 40% off, but I ordered about a dozen titles during the sale. They actually seemed to average around 20% off compared to the current prices. I see the titles I paid $17.97 for now being sold at $21.59. Still a good discount. I don't think there will be much of a difference in price when they do their next 20% off sale. All in all, I'm happy with the sale [IMG]
