Well, looking at it from their perspective, I can't really blame them. If it happens repeatedly, it either signals a dishonest customer or a severe problem with the postal service in your area. Why should they risk it?

Finally placed my 1st order. Sorry to hear about others' problems with DDD, hope it doesn't happen to me! Anyways, only a couple days left, still considering picking up some more box sets including the Directors Label Sets(if I can get them to accept the 20%), and some Sopranos and Curb Your Enthusiasm latest seasons. For the sake of my budget, trying to stay away from the some the recent Criterions...

For this order, double dipped on some classics, but I basically worked on completing my Scorsese, De Palma, and Michael Mann collections. Glad "The Conversation" finally got a lower MSRP (it was $23street forever). Can't wait for the new "Raging Bull," can't believe I held out for this long!

Order Summary:

THE MARTIN SCORSESE COLLECTION $ 26.09
CASINO (WS/10TH ANNIVERSARY) $ 12.96
HEAT (SE) $ 16.91
THE INSIDER $ 7.48
THE UNTOUCHABLES $ 7.48
THE CONVERSATION $ 7.48
BULLITT (SE) $ 16.38
THE STING (SPECIAL EDITION) $ 15.59
THE DEER HUNTER (SPECIAL EDITION) $ 15.59
WORLD CUP SOCCER HIGHLIGHTS $ 10.55
WORLD CUP SOCCER COLLECTION (3D) $ 26.39
PINK FLOYD-THE WALL (DELUXE ED) $ 11.95
U2-VERTIGO LIVE FROM CHICAGO (DE) $ 20.10
GHOSTBUSTERS 1 & 2 SET (2D W/SCRAP $ 11.12
BLADE-TRINITY (UR) $ 16.91
SIMPSONS-6TH SEASON $ 26.87
BURNOUT REVENGE PS2 $ 38.40
BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES V.03 $ 26.49
BATMAN-MOTION PICTURE ANTHOLOGY $ 41.50

Total: $356.24

For us first timers, when is the summer sale? I need to start saving for the next one. Are these six months apart or so?

It's usually in June -- the June sale this year started right around 6/17/05.

There's no guarantee there will be a summer one. There are rumors they will cut back to once a year and the winter is probably the best time to have it because of the holidays.

You guys are such a bad influence---when I read how much some of you spend on dvds, I don't feel I'm overdoing it :). I discovered that DDD has a LETHAL WEAPON 1-3 set (Director's Cut) for $18.72 with the discount, so I ordered it. It's out of stock, so we'll see if I actually get it.

My order status has not changed since I placed it on Tuesday. This is the first time it has taken this long to see any changes. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Yes, same here. I placed my order the 11th, and the order status is still OPEN. Does anyone know if it's possible with DDD to add items to an open order? Because I can't believe I forgot to add The Fly SE to this list:

Videodrome (Criterion) $23.00
Naked Lunch (SE/2D) (Criterion) $25.52
Sex, Lies And Videotape $4.80
The Wages Of Fear (Criterion) $20.77
Scorsese Collection (5D) $34.52

The two orders I placed on the 11th are marked COMPLETE and have been shipped. I guess I order stuff that isn't in high demand.

I'm really looking forward to the Harold Lloyd collection. If you've never seen his silent movies like Safety Last, you've gotta check em out.

My Tuesday order is still open as well. The items that were noted as backordered are marked to ship around the 25th; I think at this rate the in stock items will ship around that time too. I'm not really anxious to get them now, just as long as I get them eventually.

Well, I got away pretty cheap this time. I ordered:

THREE'S COMPANY-5TH SEASON $ 19.19
CSI-1ST SEASON $ 23.91
CSI-2ND SEASON $ 23.91

I wasn't planning on buying CSI until the rumored widescreen re-release of season one comes out but for $24 I can justify my purchase of the full frame version.

Good catch, Paul!

Gotta believe Jack was momentarily outta his mind! :D Jack, call customer service immediately!

Those ARE great prices for seasons 1 & 2 of CSI. I was planning on including Season 4 in one of my orders...but seasons 3 & 4 are priced at $65.99!

I was glad I was able to find

CHRISTMAS STORY (FS/SINGLE $ 10.60

for my sister, since as many people know, the WS version is matted widescreen. I suppose to zealots of the Church of the Holy Aspect Ratio that's just a minor detail. :b

I'm an infant with DDD too. I figured since I was going to have to order some items - no one local has them and I had a "rough" time the last time I ordered something from Amazon, I figured I've give this sale a try.

First Order (Thursday)
The Agony and the Ecstasy $7.18
Hard to Hold $6.00
How Green is My Valley (no one local carries this! I couldn't believe it!) $10.33
Knightriders $8.99
Nell $9.99
The Scarlet Pimpernel Box Set 22.85
Snow White - A Tale of Terror $6.95
Universal Soldier $9.28
Total of Order $81.57

Second Order (Saturday)
The Dain Curse $18.27
Eddie Izzard: Unrepeatable $13.30 (out-of-stock)
Eddie Izzard: Glorius $13.30
The Thing SE $13.99
Murder By Death $19.14
Them! $14.38
Total of order $92.38

Neither are very large orders but as I said, some of them are only available - or so it seems - on-line so I put in a couple extra in due to the great prices.
Now to see the delivery aspects...

If this turns out as good as I hope, DDD may have gotten a new customer. They definitely won't take the place of wandering into the store and browsing but I am willing to make an order once in a while.
Might have to start putting a few dollars aside just earmarked for the possibility of next fall's sale...if it happens...:D
