    In a 5.1 system

    1. beside for the Subswoofer what is the most important speaker to make sure you have a good quality speaker(s).

    2. When listening to a DTS or DD 5.1 track on a movie how much of the sound comes from the center speaker. Is it just mostly the voice or is it anything that is in the center of the screen. IE if a machine gun is firing, and its in the center of the screen will you mostly be hearing the sound from the center or is it mostly coming from the mains and just seems that its coming from the center?

    What Michael said.

I have seen a number of questions/problems concerning understanding movie dialogue—where people turn up the sound to hear speech during quiet passages and down when the action starts.

A good center speaker will allow you to distinguish speech even during the midst of chaos.

75% of a movie soundtrack going to the center channel is typical I believe.
