Hey everyone,

I currently have a sony HS20 and am looking for a DVD player to go along with it. I am looking to spend around 300 - 350, and am limited to the sony, yamaha, samsung, and panasonic brands.

My question is, the yamaha 1500 has dcdi, dvd-a, and sacd, which looks to be a great deal (though slightly out of my original range). Now, I do not have any sacds or dvda's, but those could be happening down the road.

Another option is the sony 5 disc dvd player with SACD capabilities.

Keeping the constant of component connections, would I really see that much of a difference going with the yammy 1500 with dcdi or should I stick around the sony with the Precision Scan Progressive system?

Knowing the projector I am using (HS20 on a 92 inch Draper Luma2), what recommendation is there from the yamaha / sony / panasonic bunch? Any favorites out there? I really appreciate any input any of you may have.

Thanks alot!!!

Those happen to be the ones I can get a discount on.

Is there another option that would look better than the ones I have mentioned? If so, then I can get them somewhere else, but those happen to be the ones I am most familiar with.

Thanks!

Brands to consider, in no particular order: Marantz, Denon, Pioneer, Yamaha, Onkyo, Integra, Panasonic here in the next few months...

Sonys generally do not score well in the progressive comparisons, and personally, I don't think their recent DVD players are that great. Well built, good overall, but nothing special. Denon is pretty much the way to go right now for PS players, but I'm hearing good things about the Yamaha 1500 too.

Cool,

Thank you very much everyone for your input. I'm leaning towards the S1500 and may get that either this weekend or next. The Denon 1910 also falls into the price range, but I don't think it does both SACD and DVD-A.

Thanks again!! You guys are awesome.

Don't forget about the Panasonic DVD-S97!! That also can be a possible option.

November for US. In Japan it's like October. There is a thread on AVS reguarding that so you may want to look over there for more detail.
