I know about the H/K 7300.... What would be the most inexpensive AVR with the ability to take 480i video sources and use the Faroudja DCDi to give you Progressive Scan 480p out the Component Video output?

Anybody really used this feature on their H/K 7300 on SVIDEO sources?

    Impressions on this feature only?

The most inexpensive avr with Faroudja processing is the HK 7300. Other receivers with Faroudja include the Yamaha Z9 at $6999 MSRP, Samsung R3000 ($4995) and the Denon 5805 ($5999).

Ok.. I tried to find some reviews of people using that feature. I couldn't find much if anything at all on it.

I guess my only real question is.... Is it good?
Will I get no more jaggies and shimmers on the bulk of my Laserdiscs using it?

Hmm, I did find some reviews that mention the de-interlacing is extremely good.

Rut Roh... Could the world be comming to an end???

I'm a die hard Denon fan, and may be trading out my Denon 4802 for an H/K 7300 for the pre/pro and video capabilities alone??? Gasp....

If things work out the way I want.. I may also be needing to upgrade my Sub.... My 1st upgrades in 3 years, I guess that is not to bad. Funny how much Qty.8 200Watt Mono-Blocks can change one's HT life so quickly. [IMG]

Maybe consider an outboard scaler instead like iScan DVDO. You can get an idea of how the scaler of the 7300 works by looking at similar deinterlacers/scalers that also use Faroudja. My 4805 projector has Faroudja built in, so every 480i source it receives will have faroudja processing it (with great results).

Thanks, I am attempting to get this done without any additional costs.

Should still be a somewhat even swap from my 4802 to the 7300...

They (H/K) have one on a real good Buy Now price on their ebay store right now.

John the fan on the 7300 is not quiet and runs all the time. That would kill it for me.

I'm not sure if that is a deal breaker for me or not, I did read that quite a few places.

I run it all pretty darn loud 90% of the time... [IMG]
