Hi Shane,

My friend Jared recently completed his new speakers using the Dayton 1 1/8" silk tweeter and the 7" aluminum woofers in a TMM mini tower. It is my first loudspeaker design and while I doubt it is as good as a professional kit, I thought they sounded very nice and I have Kit281s connected to some fancy electronics. My design was done with LspCAD and manufacturers' provided frequency response plus some computer simulations, and we still have some tweaking to do. They are probably a bit stronger than a speaker with the 5" woofers with the trade off in midrange quality. I have no idea what kind of commercial speakers they sound like, I've probably listened to more DIY types. :) Anyway, he lives in Olney but his room is a mess with no good stereo placement. Maybe you could stop by my house (Gaithersburg) and I'd get him to bring them over?
