Dawn of the Dead Remake????

Ok, I tried doing a search but came up empty. I'm sure some people here must have asked when the new Dawn of the Dead remake will be releaed on DVD, but for some odd reason I can't find any topics on it -- so I made my own.

Has there been any announcement on when the remake is coming out on DVD? And if there is a release date, will it be the long-rumored "Directors Cut"? Or will that come out later -- after the theatrical version is released on DVD?

Thanks for any information you can share.

Great. Any idea if the "directors (or is it unrated?) cut will be release on the same day as the theatrical version?

A board member over at the Creature-Corner got a screener, and confirmed that the film is scheduled for release on DVD in October. That really boils my blood, as this is one of my new all time favorite films, and I was looking forward to getting it much earlier than that.
Since we're having to wait this long, they had damn well better go all out with the set.

This was released theatrically last week over here. I am definitely buying this one. 9 minutes extra is much better than a lot of these unrated versions coming out lately.

I'm peeved that there will be no trailers or TV spots included. The trailers were both great, and they had many TV spots they could have included as well, all of which I was positive would be included when DVD time came around. Oh well, either way, as I've said before, this is one of my new favorite films, and I'll be picking it up immediately upon its release. Can't wait to see the uncut footage, and the extras that are present sound pretty sweet, and hopefully aren't just fluff.

Will this be the footage that is scattered through the end credits? I thought it was great that those who stay right until the end of the credits get a totally different ending than those who left early.

Hey, this reminds me of the LAST DVD release of a horror remake!
I went with the more expensive Texas Chainsaw Massacre DVD, and I think I made the right choice...

Looks like I'll be doing that again for DOTD.

And yeah, I'm real curious to see what's in the extra nine minutes. I thought the movie was pretty great but would have been well served by a few extra scenes of character development / interaction.

Keeping my fingers crossed on the inclusion of the theatrical trailers.

Perhaps this thread ought to be retitled as it now contains definitive news about the disc?

Anyhow, I'm a bit disappointed that the unrated version is only nine minutes longer. The director had previously mentioned twenty minutes, with part of the time devoted to more gore and part to characterization, which the movie badly needed. I wonder what the new material will consist of now?

That said, though, the featurettes look kind of fun. I especially like the idea of the short film about Andy and the one on (presumably) phony newscasts. A little creativity helps. Definitely a must-buy still.
