His latest album finally comes out on March 7. It's $9.99 at Circuit City and Best Buy but the BB version comes with an exclusive track for no extra cost ($9.99).

I heard the 30 sec. clips on CC's website and they're okay, but not indicative of what the songs really sound like.

I saw this advertized. what's it been about 20 years since the last recording. For $9.99 I will take a chance and pick it up.

I've heard the title track from the CD and I like it a lot, it is really indicative of a lot of his newer stuff. And a bit sounding like the tracks he plays on his live DVD.

P.S. Today (March 6th) is David Gilmour's Birthday! Happy Birthday!!!

On an Island the title track sounds similar to some of the Pink Floyd stuff from the early 70's and would probably be right at home on Dark Side of the Moon. I'm looking forward to this release. He has some pretty cool guests on the album too. Like Graham Nash and David Crosby (I think it's Crosby) on the title track and more.

This is easily one the best releases of the year so far.

Sounds awesome using DPLII or NEO 6.

Anyone pick up the Best Buy version? Just wondering if the bonus track is on the CD itself or if it is on a separate disc. Also, is the track any good?

I finally got the BB version. The bonus track is a separate CD in a stiff slipcase. It's an instrumental song called "Island Jam." It's a good track - neither spectacular nor boring - and I don't know why it couldn't have been on the CD itself.

It reminds me more of the post-Waters Floyd of The Division Bell and A Momentary Lapse of Reason (the A-side of the album that didn't suck -- funny how on CDs of old albums you can usually guess where the B-side began). Of course, the early '70s and post-Waters era are when Gilmour had the most input into the song writing.

I didn't know about the BB disc!

Anyway, I've been listening to this CD over and over everyday. It's mellow, for sure, but this is a damn good solo from Gilmour. Certainly not like his older solos (of which I have both), but it's easy on the ears and begs for multiple plays.
