Which of these directors do you prefer? I can't really decide because I guess I like them both about the same. Their films are usually weird and disturbing but in different ways. Which weird and disturbing style to you prefer more?

I prefer Cronenberg, basically because he manages to infuse some solid gore into his bizarre movies. I've never been a big fan of Lynch's although I consider The Elephant Man one of my all-time favorites.
Plus The Fly... man, that's good stuff. [IMG]

I don't care for either too much but I guess Cronenberg is less painful for me to watch.
There are many other Weirdo Directors that I prefer over these two. [IMG]

I can't really decide. Lynch is the better director, but Cronenberg explores more interesting concepts. And as with Jim_K, there are other "weirdo" directors out there that I like better. Alejandro Jodorowsky is one, Philip Ridley is another.

Although Existenz is one of my favourite Sci/Fi flicks, I have to choose David Lynch overall.

Not even close for me. I like David Lynch much much better than the other David. Although I enjoyed The Fly and eXistenZ, all of Cronenberg's other films bore me to tears.
    Lynch is a brilliant director.

I have never been a big David Lynch fan at all, In fact I hate most of his films.

Both make strange, wonderful films and it's a very tough choice, but I'd have to say David Lynch by a hair.

I've never like David Lynch's movies, generally speaking.

I definitely prefer Cronenberg, although I am not a huge fan of his either!

    LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH!!
Both weird directors, but I've always been a fan of Cronenbergs, I loved his early films, Scanners, Videodrome, The Dead Zone, The Fly etc, all fantastic genre movies.
Strangely enough my favorite David Lynch film is the one he likes the least, DUNE.
Lynch's 'Eraserhead' remains one of the strangest films in movie history, and at one time I was watching it every day, until my head started getting erased and I had to stop.

Enjoy the work of both men. Probably prefer Lych, mostly because Cronenberg's use of gore - at least in his earlier features - was excessive and tasteless. Once he hit his stride with The Fly and, especially, Dead Ringers, he got considerably better (excepting M. Butterfly). Lynch has tackled various subjects with only one real misfire (Wild At Heart, IMO); even Dune looks better with each year (especially compared with that gawdawful TV movie last year). And you just can't get better than the 1-2-3 punch of Lost Highway-The Straight Story-Mulholland Drive.

I prefer David Cronenberg. Overall, I think his movies are better. Like Scott said, The Fly is very good!

I really like both, but I think I would have to give the nod to Lynch.

I finally made up my mind. I guess I'd go with Cronenberg but Lynch lands a VERY close second.
