An excellent comparison review of all three versions of Das Boot is now available on The Digital Bits website, including the original version, the Superbit version and the forthcomming extended 293 minute version.

Thanks , I'll be skipping the new version based on that review.

I'd like to know if the subtitles were ever fixed on any of these versions? The old release had slooooooow updating subtitles, so often (even though there was a gap of several seconds) you would read a question and an answer in the same subtitle. It really bugged me: The VHS version had much better subs.
