I hope I don't regret having bought this! (I have watched it in the past but I don't remember anything at all). Thank you for your review!

It’s fairly divisive. Not much middle ground. I’ve always found it somewhat fascinating.

One of the genuinely most interesting soundtracks.

Why are HTF reviews like this presented as white text over a dark background? Since the invention of the printing press, it is always easier for the vast majority of people to read black text on a white background. I was interested in this film review, but gave up. Reading it gave me a headache.

Dark City is an amazing piece of work but, like many film masterpieces, requires multiple viewings and patience to fully appreciate. That said, I don't know if I need a 4K release at this point.

Kiefer Sutherland's somewhat... curious... approach to his character probably is difficult for some to accept. I have always found it quirky in a way that there is no point in trying to explain.

At the very least the old blu-ray is terrible enough to justify the upgrade.

Raise your hand if you actually saw Dark City during its blink and you'll miss it during the reign of Titanic terror theatrical run!

He's trying to do Peter Lorre. Is that hard to understand?

What’s the buying situation? Amazon link goes to Amazon page with randos selling it for exorbitant prices.

Very common with new Arrow releases. Especially limited editions.

I did after Roger Ebert’s review. Didn’t always agree with him but he was spot on here.

i'm glad this seems to at last be a good visual quality release for this movie.

I like it enough to watch for a regular release as I don't need any of the keep sakes but want any specials I can get.

I watched Dark City on DVD. This might probably one of my earlier Netflix subscription rentals back in the glory days of disc by mail, circa 2002. I liked the movie, but didn’t love it. However, Roger Ebert’s commentary won me over. It’s one of the all time great commentaries — I wish we had more like this. And I fell in love with Dark City thanks to him.

As for Keizer Sutherland’s performance: it is his defining role for me. I will never not hear the once of Dr Shrieber when I see him in any role. I love it. It’s so weird and distinctive and perfect for the film.

I’d like to get this new release for all the commentary tracks. But at $60, it’s simply more than I want to pay for a single movie. That in actuality, I might not get around to watching for who knows how long.

I’ll keep an eye out and keep it in mind, in case I decide to splurge on it.

Dave,

In the coming months, there is a likely going to be a standard 4K/UHD release of this film that will be much cheaper than this current 4K/UHD release. It won't have the booklet but will most likely have the same 4K/UHD disc.

But there is a standard 4k release coming.
It just drops the theatrical cut.
I don't believe it will be available again in 4k on a standard edition.
