It's been out in Japan for over a year, and is coming to R1 around the same time as well

Yeah, *great* news. /sarcastic. I spent $500 on both seasons from Japan, but I'll be keeping season 2 'cause it's in OAR but season 1 will have to replace with a proper widescreen version.
Was gona get R4 boxsets because they ARE WS, but now that it's coming out in R1 I'll wait for that NTSC version, don't like to have the same show in two formats.

Thanks for the heads up about these discs being P&S, I thought that R1 was also WS, so then I will settle for R2

It's not Pan & Scan, don't you think that given Fox's standards and consistant statements that if the producers wanted it in 16:9 it would be?

If it's not Pan&scan then it's just Cut-off-sidedness... because it was filmed in widescreen and that's how it is released in Australia, Japan, and most of Europe, and that's what I'm gona get. Maybe they don't have an NTSC widescreen master and didn't want to bother, I don't know but you can't just trust Fox to have a perfect release every time. They definetly screwed up big time on a R1 box.

If the Japan version is 16:9 then there is an NTSC master around. Although, CDJapan.co.jp lists season 1 as 4:3.
