Can anyone confirm whether or not there will definately be a R-rated version of this Spring's live-action Ben Affleck Daredevil film?

If so, I'm going to pass on the theatrical version, because I'm trying and gonna have to severaly limit any double dipping now as there's just so much out there right now that I can't even afford all the new releases I want.

The director has said they'll be putting out an R-Rated version on DVD, but nothing has been announced yet.

Its supposed to come out in Dec. thats what Mark Steven Johnson...the director...said...he is currently working on re-editing the film I believe...or was so a couple of months ago...what will be restored is the Coolio subplot...which I've heard is rather excellent...and the fight scenes wont be so choppy and will be more violent...

Sounds great! I will get the Theatrical cut as well though...

I thought the theatrical version was OK but I wouldn't pay to see it again. I don't want violence just because but if the R rated version is actually more entertaining I just might buy it.

I liked Daredevil, but I also hope that we can see a new cut of the film. I hope they go through with it, but Fox has done this before only to say later that they abandoned the new cut. X-Men 1.5?

Thanks guys, I guess I'll wait till December or whenever it comes out. If not, then I can always buy the regular version.

that and Bryan Singer, in response to allegations of cutting like 45 minutes out, said they ended up cutting around 25 minutes total. So we've got 25 minutes floating around for a new cut if there ever will be one.

On the daredevil side, i liked the theatrical cut, but agree it needed some major overhauls. I'll be getting the Dr. Cut DVD, and renting the theatrical release.

This is probably all dependent on how well the first Daredevil release does on DVD. I would not be surprised if they do something similar and wait to release it around the same time of a Daredevil sequel if one is greenlit.

I'm buying the theatrical cut but unless the new version is something extraordinary I'll be renting, don't like to have two versions of one movie in my collection.

Joshua_Y: unfortunately, your username is not Mark_S_J. Unless you work for Fox, or know Mark, your saying it doesn't make it so, until it is announced. [IMG]

I didn't get to see Daredevil in the theater, so I have already ordered the DVD, and would love to see an extended cut. From everything I've heard, the film could use it. Bring it on!

Like I said, I'll believe it when it's announced. Just because a director has something created, doesn't mean it'll ever see the light of day.

That's exactly why you haven't heard anything specific on it
They have told us it's coming, and that's enough. They want you to buy the theatrical

In comic books, there's a full page ad for the upcoming Daredevil DVD with the following copy:

"Buy the DVD, and STARE ALL YOU WANT!"

right next to the shot of Elektra (Jennifer Garner from the waist up) looking back at the reader.

It's a bit on the crass side, to say the least.
