Watched the Daredevil DVD last night, in DTS-ES. This has one of the most active surround mixes I've ever heard. The rears never let up through the whole movie.
I'll add this one to my demo list.

    Dan,

The dvd does not come out in the U.S. until July 29th. It looks like Harry is from Austrilia, and they probably have a different release schedule. According to dvdfile and widescreen review, both the DTS and DD are 5.1

I had the good fortune of being able to preview Daredevil a couple months back. The audio for this movie is excellent demo material! [IMG]

The region 4 was released on the 9th of july. It is labelled as 5.1 Dolby and DTS, so its not an official EX/ES release, but it decodes into ES with very good results.

Theres not too many titles that are released in r4 before r1. We are generally 2-3 months behind the r1 releases, with some big titles released at he same time in both regions. Daredevil is the first time i've seen the r4 released ahead of the r1.
I've seen some DVD s listed in r1 that haven't had a theatrical release in australia yet.

im not necessarily talking about region 4. It just seems like some american productions, (Noteably dvds of tv shows like futurama) end up being released in other regions before region 1

Yes..Dan, I guess you can have my copy of Futurama, and I'll have the ability to purchase The Criterion Collection in local stores.

Never mind, with multi-region players and PAL->NTSC conversion or HTPCs, this becomes unimportant. You may import freely, through the glory of Internet shopping. [IMG]

Back on topic, I refuse to buy the local version of Daredevil (R2 UK), since the censors have had their hands on it.

are you sure the R2 daredevil is censored? the 2 cuts that were taken out theatrically(the headbutt and the sai through elektras hand) are both back in the movie and it does say "new uncut version" on the cover. is there something else i'm missing?
p.s the DTS track is one of the best i've heard..a real sub-killer [IMG]

Nothing is cut from the region two edition at all, everything was restored for the DVD. I knocked up a news article here with proof a couple of weeks back. Don't look at that if you haven't seen the film already though as I guess it would contain a spoiler or two.

I moved my sub about a week ago, I noticed last night that one of the wires had been pulled out in the process, so when I watched Daredevil I had no sub!
Watched it again, at ref level with the sub connected. This is the best movie soundtrack I have ever heard, better than SPR, EP1, EP2, LOTR.
The drip sequence near the start of the movie sounds great, with the drops staring in the surr back channel(dts-es engaged) and landing in the fronts with a massive dose of LFE.
This entire movie is demo material, start to finish.

Widescreen Review just issued a review of the D-Theater version. Perry Sun indicated that this was one of the very best sound mixes ever, and great demo material!

Both sound and video received 5/5.

I have my copy. The audio is definitely reference quality, although I don't think it's in DTS-ES, just DTS. At least my idicator on my Denon didn't light up, anyway.
