dammaged foam suround

    i have a 12 inch sub that the foam suround has a 2 inch rip in it it is along the woofer edge what can i do to fix it and if i dont what will happen?
     
  2. 2" is a pretty large rip! I can't really visualize it. can you post some sort of image?

    You ABSOLUTELY want to fix it or you will have a crappy sounding driver [​IMG]
    I would use rubber cement and use a cloth backing (also use contact cement).
    The combination of these should be flexable enough while holding the surround together well. you can also coat the exposed part of the cloth with rubber cement to insure that it is air tight.
    Do not use waterbased contact cement. I do not trust it to last.
    YMMV....This is just what I would do.
