Accuse me of casting aspersions if you must, but I see only three reasons why a guy would marry a 78 year old woman when he's decades younger

a. Riding a gravy train and hoping she'll kick the bucket soon and he'll inherit all the money. Example: Anna Nicole Smith marrying J. Howard Marshall
b. She's a beard for the guy. Examples: David Gest marrying Liza Minnelli, Mark Harris marrying Martha Raye
c. All of the above. Example: Again, Mark Harris marrying Martha Raye.

It's not quite a 30-year difference, not exactly Anna Nicole territory. If the sexes were reversed, would there be as many comments about that?

Maybe they just like each other.

Option B is especially silly- why draw attention to yourself by marrying someone so famous?
