Iwas wondering about this movie "Dad".Iam pretty sure this is the name of it.It stars Jack Lemmon and Ted Dansen. It's about Lemmon who has cancer and Dansen as his son coming back to take care of him.I saw this in a theater with about 10 guys,no women, and before it was over there was not a dry eye in the house.I was wondering if this is out on dvd or has plans to be released any time soon.Anyone know what Iam talking about?

I remember the movie vaguely - it's not available on DVD. This would be one of those movies you'd see come out as a bare-bones catalog release at $9.99 or so...but I doubt whoever owns the rights (Universal?) sees this movie as much of an income generator.

For me, Frequency or Field Of Dreams are better father/son male tearjerkers.

I remember watching this once after it had been released on VHS. Jack Lemmon is very good in it (he's the reason I rented it). However, it was, in my opinion, a very depressing movie which doesn't lend itself to repeated viewings even if the underlying movie is well done.

Kevin is probably correct in his assessment on this title.

According to The Digital Bits, it will be released on 5/31 for $12.98. Unless it's a different film, but I don't see other Dads owned by Universal...

Dad ran on HDNetMovies a couple of months ago. I had never it (nor heard of it) until then, but I'll agree-- it was a tear-jerker. I think I watched it two or three times. I'm looking forward to the DVD.
