I have been reading with great interest about D-VHS. I know that JVC has had a D-VHS unit out for some time. It is the Dish network JVC HM-DSR100RU for use with Dish Network. Will this be able to play all the titles coming out and does it qualify as a "D-Theater" component? The price on these units is fairly low compared to the new JVC units.

Thank you!

No, this unit will output 480i only (read: no HD) and does not have D-Theater capabilities.

The only D-Theater unit is the JVC 3000, which will be joined by an upcoming Marantz unit.

Best regards,

And by the JVC 40000 soon which the Marantz is based on. Beware any that might be considering the D-Theater VCRs. Read about them at the avsforums HDTV Recorders forum for the long list of complaints.
