After visiting Sears and checking out the dvd-ram recorder, I thought that it would be cool to record on dvd. But finding out they can't record hd programming is a drag. I'm wondering if d-vhs is gonna be the way to go. I sure would've liked to have a copy of Band of Brothers in hd.

DVHS is a format with an uncertain future. If you have the cash to spare, get one, but I'd go with the DVD-RAM

"Component video input ( YPBPR) for the best quality recording of analog sources"

Having component inputs doesn't mean it can record HD.
