D-VHS on SDTV (1 Viewer)

I was thinking of buying the JVC HM-DH30000U for nearly $200. For me my main prioty would be to record SDTV and use it transfer video from VHS to my PC via firewire, but I wanted to know if I connect it to my SDTV via component, could I watch VHS tapes through component? And can I watch D-VHS on my SDTV or is the output limited to 1080i?

Yes you can watch VHS through component. Yes you can watch D-VHS 1080i and 720p content on a 480i, you just have to change the setting to downconvert.
