Release dates are up for both Walmart Exculsives:

May 24, 2016 My Friend Flicka $14.17

June 7, 2016 Custer: The Complete Series $15.97

Shout Timeless seems to be running full steam lately. Hope they keep these exclusives going. Great prices and interesting releases. Apparently Shane & Hopalong Cassidy were exclusives as well. Missed those ones, they are now wide releases. Guess we need to search more often on the walmart website

When you add Death Valley Days , it does seem like the "old days" for Timeless. Let's hope this continues , and we get some of those series we gave up on like the ZIV catalog ,Wichita Town, Gray Ghost , Black Saddle etc.

Forgot about "Death Valley Days! " Currently on the last disc of Season one. They were given good print for it. Hope the two above look as good.

I was at Walmart today . They had My Friend Flicka in stock, so I picked it up. Under $15 .00 for 39 episodes - not a bad deal!
At my local Walmart there were 4 copies total in stock when I got there late this afternoon,

Hi Lou,

How do the transfer/prints look? Not available in my area yet.

Pretty ancient-looking transfers, I'm afraid, in regards to "Flicka.". Not that I'm terribly surprised. Still rather nice to have these, though. I've already watched the first six episodes. Got a kick out of seeing Hugh Beaumont appear in the fIrst episode as an affable but very menacing killer. It would make a nice double-feature with that first episode of "The Lone Wolf," in which Barbara Billingsly portrayed a villainess. Especially for a longtime LITB fan like myself.

Seeing Anita Louise in the role of the mom in "Flicka" reminded me that my 10th-grade teacher, who shared the same name Anita, revealed to the classroom that she named after the movie-star, Anita Louise, by her mother who was a fan. I was the only one in class familiar with the actress, already being a pretty established film buff. Hadn't thought about that in years.

I'm happy that Shout/Timeless is giving us these shows on dvd...I really hope the Walmart exclusives are a big success for them, as every casual buyer helps our cause in seeing more released to the dedicated collectors like ourselves...and Walmart's reach and the affordable price points certainly facilitate the impulse buyer...at these prices I can get them all...Blacksheep Squadron, Flicka, Custer, Daniel Boone, etc...

I'm really excited by the prospect of getting Trackdown, The Westerner and Black Saddle...all sourced from Fox, which is a welcome development...also from Fox, the just released Lou Grant season 1 is of outstanding quality...I'm thrilled with the forthcoming The Defenders (CBS)...hoping for Shout to release 12 O'clock High, which I would think would be a sure thing and have stronger sales...I hope there isn't any rights complications with that one...likewise Bus Stop and Burke's Law S2...which I would just about kill for...

I watched 2 episodes . Not bad - not great - kinda like the stuff Timeless was putting out about 10 years ago like The Texan. Better than Timeless's own M Squad release , but not as good as the CBS stuff like Gunsmoke or Rawhide . At least we have the complete show on DVD and I thank SF /Timeless for putting it out .

Hi Bert
I was at that one, I have ot on disc somewhere.

Chris

Well, hi there, to a fellow patron! Those Memphis shows have had a lot of great panels over the years. And I'm glad they started taping and documenting them. A lot of the various older festivals/events I attended never made video records. Indeed, not long ago I was scouring the Internet, and couldn't even find a single photo snapshot of some of the shows I went to!

Good news for the Shout Walmart exclusives. Walmart has sold out of Baa Baa Black Sheep Vol 3/Season 2 online and in my area. Death Valley Day season Two now looks an exclusive as well. July release. Amazon gets it in October. Support these classic TV shows.

Yes , if you love 1950's and 1960's black and white (and color ) TV you need to support these releases . It's our best chance for getting many of these obscure shows .

I'll pass on Flicka, but I'm all in on Custer, when it appears next month.

I'd be all in for Lancer to be let out of the Fox barn, for it would be a logical choice because it lasted only two seasons on CBS from 1968 to 70 and in color. It would sell well for Shout/Timeless!

You are too kind, sir. I'm usually in the camp of thinking people are too critical in these forums, but the transfers on this Flicka release are just terrible. We're talking public-domain quality here. This is not typical of what Shout! Factory usually puts out.

Here's a screencapture to illustrate my point:

I agree, Not the best. What's surprising is that this is on the Shout Factory label and not Timeless. Timeless has Death Valley in near pristine and Shout used faded rough prints for Flicka. You would think the labels would have been switched. They would have been insane to restore this title. Flicka will sell low volume, so it's fine with me at $14 and change, complete series. Think of it as a "Millcreek" style quality release :)
