I've done a search, and have read people generally recommending Cable Solutions. I'm going to be getting a FPTV in the next couple of months, and will need to have a component video run of 25-30 feet.

Cable Solutions certainly seems to have good prices compared to other cable suppliers, and they appear to use good quality cable/connections.

Anyone out there actually using these things that can tell me how they like them?

Thanks in advance!

Depending what level of performance you are looking for you should also check out the following:
Rhinocables.com
Heartlandcables.com
Bluejeanscable.com
avcable.com

The Belden 1694a (better still the belden 1695a) will outperfrom the Canare cables. better shielding etc..

Thanks for the reply, Mark.

You mention level of performance. Just curious how you rate the folks you have listed there, where you'd put Cable Solutions in that mix, and why.

Thanks again!

Mark: while i can appreciate that certain cables will spec out better, at what point do you think the differences are not longer visible? This is assuming something like a 10 foot run in an environment that doesn't have massive amounts of interference. Any thoughts or links to studies?

I think that Cable solutions has a good reputation and has been around awhile. Providing they are using the correct tooling (Canare) and not some generic tooling you really cant go wrong with any of the the custom cable makers. They all offer money back guarentees so there is very little risk. For myslef I would rather not deal with an E-bay seller. Just my personal preference.

I have tried various Canare (LV-61S,L-5CFB,V-5CFB) and Belden (1505/1506/1694/1695) and find that in my systems I can tell them apart at 3m lengths. In my systems the belden cables (1694/1695) perform better than the Canare cables.

I've used Cable Solutions before and I think his stuff is great. I was going to DIY my own component video cables using the exact same cable and connectors--using CS saved me having to spend money on the Canare crimper, die and other tools, not to mention the minimum purchase order I would have had to make to buy the raw cable.

I've bought from cobalt cables recently - great people to deal with and shipped a custom order the same day! Might want to check them out. (not affiliated with them - just a really happy customer!)

I don't know about Cable Solutions, but I just got a set of Belden/Canare component video cables from Blue Jeans Cable, who also has an EBay store listing. They also have their own site for ordering as well, if that makes you more comfortable.

The build quality was very solid and clean. They perform better than the RCA brand cables I had. To top it all off, I received the shipping notice the same day I placed the order. Not bad for a small custom shop and they were about the same price as Cable Solutions.
