Producer Robert Weide's website gives a small update on when the DVDs are coming out:

"As of this writing (July, 2003), the original one-hour special and the show's first season will be released on home video and DVD, probably this winter, December or January. And yes, it will contain some bonus material and audio commentary."

He emailed me and told me they would be out this August, but apparently they changed their plans. And congrats to the show which got 10 Emmy nominations!

This show is brilliant. Finally, I will be able to retire my first season VHS recordings. I have every episode on tape.

Here's something that I'm sure people will enjoy. Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 1 will be a two disc release on January 13. No price or specs given all the ad had was the box which on it said 10 Episodes plus One Hour Episode. Great news.
I know people like proof of info given so it's a two page ad in Video Store Magazine. Sept. 21-27 issue.

Thats great news! I stumbled onpon this show while flipping one day..never stopped watching it since. Great comedy! One question though. Is the show scripted or is it like an improv? Poor Larry, always gettin into trouble..he makes me laugh. What a riot. [IMG] [IMG]

the dialogue is improvised; larry david writes a detailed outline of each episode so that he and the director know what needs to be accomplished in each scene. the actors (and crew) often have no idea what's going to happen when they do the first take. there are a few interesting interviews about the show on the hbo web site. (i would link you directly to it but i guess you aren't allowed to post urls here until you've posted 15 times. brilliant!)

Official info with price, specs, & extras

I know, I know...we've been teasing you for almost a week now with bits and pieces about a DVD release for Curb Your Enthusiasm. Well, HBO and distributer Warner Brothers has finally let loose with the official goods, and here's what they've got to say:

He's got it all, a loving wife, good friends, a successful career, a good home... What could go wrong for Larry David? Curb Your Enthusiasm stars Seinfeld co-creator Larry David as himself in an unsparing, cinema verite depiction of his life. Featuring real life celebrities playing themselves, the episodes are improvised by the actors from storylines by David.
As you can tell from this now-easy-to-see cover art graphic, HBO is having a lot of fun with "The Many Moods of Larry David" (gee, they all look the same, don't they?). They also make it clear that this contains "10 Episodes Plus the One-Hour Special". Still planning to street on 1/13/04, this 2-Disc 390-minute set will list for $39.98. Video will be Full Frame (1.33:1), and stereo soundtracks and subtitles are all available in English, French, and Spanish.

The supplements announced for these DVDs are: Audio commentary with Larry David, Jeff Garlin, Cheryl Hines, and Bob Weide; an exclusive interview with Larry David conducted by Bob Costas of HBO's "On the Record", and episodic previews.

Join the Golden Globe winning show this coming January for their rookie season full of great guest shots including those by Kathy Griffin, Ten Danson, Mary Steenburgen, Diane Keaton, and Seinfeld's Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

The update above was from TVShowsOnDVD.com. They also have the cover artwork. I like it very much but I can see how your average shopper might just ignore it for something a little more... optimistic.[IMG]

    Sounds great.

Clever cover, but I love the image of Larry at HBO.com where he's pondering a glass of water that is "half empty". That single image is so simple, yet perfectly describes the show. It would've been great for the cover.

Great cover. It sounds like a definate winner of a set. I just read that the 4th season was coming at the same time. That'd be just fantastic.

    AA *beep* *beep* MCO.

I have never seen the show and look forward to renting on Netflix. The cover art seems a bit self centered to me of course I'm not that familiar with the show.

KEVIN - Believe me, the cover is perfect for the show. It may seem a bit self-centred, but then that's what the show is like. Indeed, that's a lot of the humour.

The show is worth watching. I usually describe it as Seinfeld (which Larry David created) if George was the main character, and if they swore, and had no scripts so dialogue was improvised (the humour comes from situations rather than telling jokes). It's a great show, if you don't mind the frequent swearing.

This show is perfect. I am in love. Is it the parent of this web show Suzie Cocktail?? She is insane, I feel like her parents could be the same as Larry David's lol
