Back in the day I used the free CUE CAT barcode reader to scan my DVD collection into profiler using a driver/app called Cat Nip. If I recall a HTF member had sent me the application way back when...

I'd like to start using DVD profiler again- and rather than typing in 500 dvds by hand, I'd like to use the cue cat and cat nip again- only I can't find any info. If I recall, the cat nip software even has a small txt file which explained the best way to configure it to work with profiler.

Anyone have any idea where I can find the app and info?

I was under the impression that with DVDProfiler 2.0, you didn't need catnip because DVDP2 comes with a barcode scanner plugin. Now that I think about it, though, it might only work for neutered cuecats.

I haven't scanned anything since upgrading to 2.0, so I could be wrong.

The plugin in version 2 works fine. No need for anything else.

Was wondering if anyone had any luck with a cue cat and a USB keyboard? My Compaq has a USB keyboard, a ps/2 mouse port and a ps/2 keyboard port. I plug the cue cat in the available ps/2 port and the "cat" lights up. As soon as I try to scan a barcode, the mouse locks up and I need to reboot.

    I am running XP.

Any help getting this to run with DVD profiler v2.0. would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Jim

I want to order a Cue Cat from ebay, only all the available ones have been modified to send clear text, instead of unencrypted text. Does anyone know if a modified CueCat will work with DVD Profiler, and do I need Catnip, or does the plugin work? I'm getting a USB CueCat by the way.

It will work. You will not need CatNip, the plug-in in the latest version of the DVD Profiler will take care of the first and last digit of the full-text UPC code.

Thanks for the info, Dmitry. I guess I'm off to ebay!
