Three-Disc DVD Collection Featuring All 13 Episodes
Available Exclusively on DVD June 3

Culver City, CA (April 2, 2003) - The hit TV cop show from the '70s that has
spawned the upcoming major motion picture release starring Samuel L. Jackson, Colin
Farrell, Michelle Rodriguez and LL Cool J, busts onto DVD for the first time in a special
re-mastered three-disc collection of S.W.A.T.: THE FIRST SEASON, featuring all 13
original episodes from one of the toughest, highly explosive crime-fighting police action
series ever. S.W.A.T.: THE FIRST SEASON will be available exclusively on DVD June 3
at the collectible price of $29.95 SRP from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment.

Starring TV legend Robert Urich (Spencer for Hire, Vega$) and executive
produced by Aaron Spelling (Charlie's Angels, Starsky and Hutch), S.W.A.T.'s
combination of cool cops and intense action made it a cult favorite and the genre-defining
series for all cop shows to come. Spun off from The Rookies and fueled by its signature hit
theme song, S.W.A.T. chronicled the realistic exploits of the Los Angeles Police
Department's Special Weapons and Tactics team, an elite group of five men who tackle
crime-control assignments too dangerous for even the police to handle. They are a team of
highly trained and heavily armed police officers whose purpose is to make coordinated
assaults on armed and dangerous criminals in sensitive situations and defensible locations.

team. Will this elite strike force bring these cold-blooded executioners to justice in time to save
    more lives?

    A COVEN OF KILLERS
A convicted murderer's Manson-style "family" engineers his prison escape, but after executing
a D.A., this maniacal leader sends a cryptic message to Hondo, naming him as his next victim,
along with the jury who found him guilty. Meanwhile, an underground newspaper editor
refuses to help the S.W.A.T. team locate the gang's whereabouts, until he discovers his own
daughter has joined the murderous cult.

    uncovers?

    HIT MEN
After a convicted felon agrees to expose a crime syndicate's dirty laundry before a Senate
committee, he learns that a Mafia "hit" has been placed on his life, and he is wounded in an
ambush en route from the penitentiary. Hondo's team stations themselves at the hospital to
insure this whistler-blower isn't permanently silenced.

    JUNGLE WAR
When a veteran police officer who served with Hondo in Vietnam lobbies to fill in for ailing
"Deacon" Kay, Hondo thinks he's the right man for the job - until urban combat dredges up
jungle-warfare memories for the embattled vet, triggering a nervous breakdown that risks
    jeopardizing the entire S.W.A.T. team.

    DEATH SCORE
A fanatical terrorist group poses as a documentary crew in a scheme to hold a professional
basketball team hostage during its championship game, demanding a multi-million dollar
ransom for their cause. Will Hondo and his strike-force settle the score in time, or will it be
"Game Over" for all on the court?

    TIME BOMB
When a disgruntled stunt man watches his career go up in smoke after a career-ending injury,
"Cowboy" and his thugs plot to burn a film studio to the ground with high-tech explosives.
Holding Street and his girlfriend hostage, and threatening to blow up the place unless movie
execs pay a king's ransom, its up to S.W.A.T. to insure this devious plot has a happy ending.

    THE BRAVO ENIGMA
After an assassination attempt on a Senator's life is foiled by S.W.A.T., a criminal mastermind

    plague around L.A.

expensive jewels. Farrah Fawcett guest stars.

cache of guns and take control of a chemical plant to protest bio-terrorism, threatening to blow
it up unless they receive a million-dollar ransom. Will Hondo and his S.W.A.T. team strike
into action before this "peaceful" demonstration turns deadly?

    BLIND MAN'S BLUFF

off to recover unitl blurred vision forces him to relinquish his command to Lt. Purcell. With
Hondo out of commission, this new leader's dubious methods and abrasive personality
threatens to demoralize the tight-knit S.W.A.T. team.

    SOLE SURVIVOR
After scrutinizing S.W.A.T. methods, a recently dismissed parole officer creates his own rogue
force, recruiting a motley crew of ex-convicts. After setting off a rash of false alarms
throughout the city, this ruthless gang of well-armed specialists pillages a fortune from a rare
coin auction house, until the S.W.A.T. team swiftly responds to bring back the vintage
    currency.

When I got this earlier, I was astounded to see that the "13th" episode (only 12 aired during the 1st season proper) was NOT the pilot from The Rookies third season, but instead was a second-season-aired episode that had been produced during the run of the first season.

In other words, this is being presented in production order rather than airdate order, and the season counts are off as a result.

    Worse...no pilot. [IMG]

Sweet!, but I'd really be doing cartwheels if news came out that Emergency! was coming. Any word on a possible release of Johhny Gage, Roy DeSoto and Dixie McCall on DVD?

Michael, there has been no new word on Emergency! since the pre-announcement last August.

I've just about given up hope on these...seven or eight months is a long time to go with no new word!

As for Universal, keep in mind the fact that their financial situation right now is pretty bad. That as much as anything could contribute to the disappearance of their "lost 8" TV shows.

That said, it would be sad to see the whole library withheld from DVD.

Man, I remember SWAT from 5th grade. K-Mart sold green plastic M-16 rifles for $.98, so we would buy them, and play SWAT in the field near our house.

Who else had the SWAT action figures and van????

Just got the set and watched the 1st episode and was pleasantly surprised. I did not notice the feared compression problems that Columbia has had with many of their T.V. shows. The color was bright, alot more than I was expecting and the video was cleaner (less artifacts and grain) than Buffy, Xena and Babylon 5 on DVD which are all much newer shows. It still has that 70's look but I'm happy with the quality. No chapter stops, subtitles of extras but the price is low.

So I take it no luck for a Season 2 release? That is all that is left of the show... or is this as Dead As Police Woman ?

Worse yet, they can't spell "Spenser."
Even worse, they don't give Mark Shera any credit for making that show popular.

It's as dead as Sony is as a DVD company. I think they have more unfinished series than all of the other majors combined.

Unfortunately the first season of SWAT was tied into the movie release of SWAT with Samuel L. Jackson.
