    tantalizing and
rewarding step in the right direction."
    - Tom Norton, Streophile Guide To Home Theater
"Superbit? is nothing less than Superb."
    - Justin Sallows, DVDivas.net
"(The Superbit? titles are) doozies! When friends come over, now you can
    REALLY show
    off. Rating: A"

"Bram Stoker's Dracula" and Sci-Fi thriller "Gattaca"
Join Superbit? Collection on December 11, 2001.
    ************************************************** ***************
Culver City, Ca. (10/22/01) - Special effect thrillers "Bram Stroker's
    Dracula" and
"Gattaca" join the the Superbit? Collection on December 11, 2001.
The Superbit? Collection of titles has been hailed as a new benchmark in
    DVD. By
reallocating space on the disc normally used for value-added content and
    multiple
audio streams, Superbit? DVDs can be encoded at approximately double
    their
normal bit rate while offering full compatibility with the DVD Video
    format. The
result is picture quality that provides outstanding detail which
    complements the
performance of the latest progressive DVD Video players.
    Bram Stoker's Dracula
In BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA, Coppola (The Godfather) returns to the
    original
source of the Dracula myth, and from that gothic romance, he creates a
    modern
masterpiece. Gary Oldman's (The Fifth Element) metamorphosis as Dracula
    - who
grows from old to young, from man to beast - is nothing short of
    amazing. Winona
Ryder (Little Women) brings equal intensity to the role of a young
    beauty who
becomes the object of Dracula's devastating desire. Oscar winner Sir
    Anthony
Hopkins (Hannibal) co-stars as the famed doctor who dares to believe in
    Dracula,
and then dares to confront him. Opulent, dazzling and utterly
    irresistible, this is
Dracula as you've never seen him. And once you've seen BRAM STOKER'S
    DRACULA, you'll never forget it.
    The Superbit? DVD includes:
Digitally Mastered audio and anamorphic video

    GATTACA
Ethan Hawke (Dead Poet's Society), Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction), Alan
    Arkin (The
In-Laws) and Jude Law (A.I.) star in this engrossing sci-fi thriller
    about an all-too-
human man who dares to defy a system obsessed with genetic perfection.
    Hawke
stars as Vincent, an "In-Valid," who assumes the identity of a member of
    the genetic
elite to pursue his goal of traveling into space with the Gattaca
    Aerospace
Corporation. However, a week before his mission, a murder marks Vincent
    as a
suspect. With a relentless investigator in pursuit and the colleague he
    has fallen in
love with beginning to suspect his deception, Vincent's dreams steadily
    unravel.

Finally, a dual-layer Dracula. The old transfer sucks, was way too compressed. They should have made it a flipper.

Gattaca is interesting, particularly as I don't currently have it. I wonder what else will make it into the Superbit lineup.

Thank Goodness we have the new server and the search feature is back on line. Back when search was turned off there were a whole bunch of "what is Superbit?" threads.
These are nice but I'm waiting for the "Starship Troopers-Superbit" DVD. Too bad we won't get the Denise Richards in see-through bra suppliment that is on the current flipper.

Does anyone know if "The Patriot" Superbit DVD is still going to released on Dec 15th? Originially it was stated that it was going to be released along with "Dracula" & "Gattaca" on 12/15. I preordered it along with "Dracula" at Amazon but since then Amazon has taken "The Patriot" superbit off of the preorder listings.
I noticed in this press release that they didn't mention it either. Anyone know if it has been postponed?

Ah, I'll make these my first entry into the Superbit world then since I don't own any existing form of Gattaca and Dracula on DVD. Cool!
DVD Shrine have Superbit Dracula artwork, very nice it is too.

I'm still trying to find Air Force One and Desperado here in Manhattan... for less than $27.96.
Anyway, Dracula should be wonderful; I can't wait.
On a side note, wasn't The Patriot supposed to be part of this 2nd wave of titles on December 11? I'm wondering if the length of that movie is causing problems with the ideals of "superbit", causing it to be cancelled?
    Regards,
    Dan

After Desperado, 5E and CTHD, I'm a big believer in the SuperBits line. I will be purchasing both of these titles.

I had a Superbit in my hand yesterday, ready to buy (The Fifth Element). At the last minute I decided to go with The French Connection and Citizen Kane instead (a good choice don't you think???). My main reason was that I already own the original edition of The Fifth Element and it's pretty incredible in it's own right and I really didn't know if I'd be spending money for Nada.
Now, since I've held off on picking up a copy of Dracula, I'll get to see what I think about Superbit!

I'm also curious why The Patriot is not part of this press release. I hope CTHV will release this SB title on 12/11.
I also hope Starship Troopers is in the next batch. L

Yes, I'm waiting for the Patriots reviews. I'm curious how it will compare to the current release - particularly the DTS track.

One other thing that is worth mentioning is the layer change: PERFECTLY SEAMLESS. No pause, no interruption of sound. On my SD-3108 Toshiba player, it is easily perceptible, but not in the case of The Fifth Element Superbit.

I was *highly* skeptical of the Superbit? collection when announced. But my review of Air Force One convinced me that it's worthwhile, especially for discs that were released barebones in the first place (like Bram Stoker's Dracula). That one is definitely on my list; DTS and Superbit may make some drool, Winona (especially the scene running in her nightie) does it for me. [IMG]
