    Arrives June 25 on DVD

Culver City, Calif. (May 8, 2002) - A horrible alien from Venus is
on the loose and threatening the city of Rome in the science-fiction
classic 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH -- featuring eye-popping special
effects by Ray Harryhausen -- which comes to DVD for the first time on
June 25 from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment.
It's the first teaming of Harryhausen and director Nathan Juran,
who would go on to make "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad." 20 MILLION MILES TO
EARTH also marks the first (and only) appearance of the terrifying
monster that has come to be known as The Ymir - an outer-space alien
that invades Earth when an American rocketship carrying it as a specimen
crash lands. From its perch atop the Coliseum, the Ymir launches a
ferocious assault upon the Eternal City.
Considered "one of the best monster-on-the-loose movies ever"
(Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide), 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH is
highlighted by Harryhausen's remarkable effects. They bring the Ymir to
life in a dazzling fashion, providing a worthy successor to such
Harryhausen favorites as "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" and "It Came
    from Beneath the Sea."
20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH: Starring William Hopper, Joan Taylor,
Thomas Browne Henry, Frank Puglia. Screenplay by Bob Williams and
Christopher Knopf. Tehnical Effects by Ray Harryhausen. Produced by
Charles H. Schneer. Directed by Nathan Juran.

Looking forward to this one...haven't seen it in widescreen since its first run (yes, I am that old [IMG] )
It would be nice if they quit putting the same tired old 'featurettes' on each Harryhausen title.
And stop calling 'Scene Selections' a special feature!

Yes! Excellent news (except for the P&S side). I've long wanted this wonderful little film on DVD. I just love that reptile-like creature from Venus. This is the quintessential 1950s "creature feature." I'm ordering.

I, too, am old enought to remember this from its initial theatrical release. I thought this was great, and it always stuck in my memory. This is one 50s scifi flick that never seemed to make the rounds on TV. I've never seen it since, so I'm really looking forward to this one.
