directed by Jim Henson (The Dark Crystal) and produced by the master of myth George Lucas
(Star Wars, Indiana Jones Trilogy) and also features several original songs from Grammy®
Award-winner David Bowie on the movie soundtrack.

Frustrated with babysitting on yet another weekend night, Sarah (Connelly), a teenager
with an active imagination, summons the goblins from her favorite fairytale book to take her baby
stepbrother away. When little Toby actually disappears, Sarah must follow him into the world of
the fairy tale to rescue him from the wicked Goblin King (Bowie). Guarding his castle is The
Labyrinth itself, a twisted maze of deception, populated with outrageous characters and unknown
dangers. To get through it in time to save Toby, Sarah will have to outwit the King by befriending
the very goblins who protect him, in hopes that their loyalty isn't just another illusion.

There don't seem to be any substantial extras that weren't on the previous releases. And I don't see the pack-ins as being worth nearly that much. This is a pass.

BTW, what's the animation cel from? IIRC, the owl in the opening credits is the only cel animation in the movie.

    Isn't the owl early CG?

It looks like CG, put I'm pretty sure it's painted (as opposed to pen and ink) cel animation. It came out in 1986 and was largely made in 1985. It looks way beyond the limits of CG at that time.

Sounds like if you want the better A/V presentation then get the Superbit with new color correction and DTS just like with The Dark Crystal.

Hmm...maybe it will turn out that David Bowie was animated throughout the whole film... It might explain a few things.

I'm not too crazy about video quality on Jim Henson films since Jim Henson was known to use the grain in films to hide things...
