    FIST OF THE RED DRAGON
    ***************************************
Debuting January 20 on DVD and Videocassette

    * * * * Culver City, CA (November 17, 2003) - Legendary action choreographer Yuen Woo
Ping, who staged all the mind-blowing fight sequences for The Matrix Trilogy, Crouching Tiger,
Hidden Dragon and Kill Bill Vol. 1, now steps into the director's chair for the non-stop action
thriller FIST OF THE RED DRAGON starring Chinese martial arts master Donnie Yen (Iron
Monkey, Shanghai Knights, Blade II), premiering on DVD and videocassette January 20 from
    Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment.

Expert fighters must band together in an ultimate kung fu showdown when Southern
China's High Officers begin smuggling opium over the Manchurian border, and endangering the
lives of the local villagers. *But this isn't modern-day China - this drug cartel existed in the 19th
Century, run by the high officers of Manchuria, the very men who swore to protect the Chinese
people. *With no one to protect them and an Emperor who does not honor them, the people turn
to the Master Fighters Lin Shih Tsui and Hwang Fei Hung to battle the evil officers and bring
    justice to the land.

An exciting follow-up film to the popular Legend of the Red Dragon starring Jet Li, FIST
OF THE RED DRAGON features highly-stylized fight sequences and edge-of-your-seat battle
scenes unlike anything you've ever seen!

Fist of the Red Dragon is actually HERO AMONG HEROES and Legend of the Red Dragon is The New Legend of Shaolin.

Two movies that are not sequels or related to each other in any way other than Columbia's marketing technique of misleading the consumer.

Contrary to the way the release reads, Yuen Woo Ping has directed before.

The release makes it sound as though Yuen Woo Ping hadn't directed anything before his more widespread acclaim as choreographer for The Matrix Trilogy, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Kill Bill Vol. 1.

    -----

If those are the complete specifications, I'm disappointed that the original language and sound at the very least are not included.

    Andrew -
They are advertising this as a follow up to Legend of the Red Dragon which I believe also lacked the original soundtrack.

Woo Ping has been directing since at least 1979 and has been an actor since the 60's. He had a wonderful career and would be a legend even if he didn't work on the Matrix, Crouching Tiger, and Kill Bill. Nobody would know by the press release.

No original language = no sale! What happened to you Columbia? You did great by the Once Upon a Time in China series now you are taking the Disney/Dimension DUBBED and CUT route.
