According to the above release list Criterion will be spoiling us with Pepe le Moko, Godard's Band of Outsiders and (one can only presume) Ernst Lubitsch's Trouble in Paradise on January 7th.
January 21st brings us the Dirk Bogarde-starring gay groundbreaker Victim and the 1946 thriller I See A Dark Stranger.
On January 28th comes the eccentric choice of Terry Gilliam's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and a 2-disc set of The Killers (presumably, Sidomak's 1946 classic instead of the Don Siegel remake - though no objections whatsoever if both are included).
Which totals up to an unheard-of seven releases in one month by Criterion (not even with rollovers of delayed discs)!

I will be one very happy camper with Trouble in Paradise and the original The Killers.

I'm kinda surprised that Monterey Pop hasn't been given a street date yet. Or maybe I missed it...

Those all sound good, but I'm particularly excited about Band of Outsiders and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Godard's is one of his best, and Gilliam's always deserved better on DVD (the anamorphic transfer on the old FALILV disc is good, but it only has a DD 2.0 track and I distinctly remember split surrounds in the theatre).

Does this mean Fear and loathing in Las Vegas will have a 5.1 soundtrack this time? I sure hope so.[IMG]

I seem to remember hearing that they were going to do Howard's End...I realize it's a Sony title, but I swear I read that somewhere. Anyone know?

Trouble in Paradise & The Killers (quite an unexpected announcement): [IMG] [IMG]

    Sweet.
I was hoping Criterion might tackle some more "classic" films.

Howard's End has been mentioned in the past, but when it may be be released is the question. I hope Criterion can also get Room with a View, which is in desperate need of a decent DVD release.

Criterions website always seems kind of slow to be updated. Usually it is well known what they are releasing in the coming months before they post it on their site.
