Criterion "Red Beard" to be in 5.1... (1 Viewer)

In the following post, he informs us that "Red Beard" was released in four-track stereo, while being disappointed in the apparent choice of mono for the Criterion release:

I'm a bit skeptical it'll be 5.1 -- the only time Criterion has ever remixed an audio track is with the participation of the director or the sound designer. Maybe 4.0 but if it's 5.1 it may upset some purists. I wouldn't mind so long as they include the original 4.0 track.

Toho has already been remixing their old four-track and even mono films to 5.1 for DVD, such as their monster films and war movies, so maybe Toho is doing the remixing.
