Two things Criterion. Apparently the StudioCanal release has the audio at the incorrect pitch. I hope this can be addressed for your release. And if you're able to do some audio work, any chance you can get the alternate narration for the opening of The Four Musketeers? The American release has narration by Richard Chamberlain and not Frank Finlay.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to this release.
Posters at the Blu-ray.com forum have gotten a response from Criterion that said the pitch is lower than the StudioCanal release and matches the 2003 DVD.

No word on the potential day-for-night issue.

My copy showed up today and I'm happy to confirm the pitch has been corrected and this sounds fantastic on both films. Beyond the pitch, the clarity and dynamic range of the mono audio is better than I've ever heard it. I've only spot checked the discs, but this looks like the release to get.

And I confirmed "The Four Musketeers" opens with the Frank Finlay narration and not the Richard Chamberlain voice over I heard on an American 35mm print.

I did not have time to watch the film, but I took a look at that scene. It still does not quite look like night to me, but it does have an evening look. The moment where d'Artagnan confronts Constance and Buckingham still looks brighter than it should. They must have filmed it at high noon.

We watched The Three Musketeers tonight. It looked and sounded great. Unfortunately, the disc glitched twice on my Oppo 203, one time completely freezing. I ejected the disc and wiped it off with a microfiber cloth and the rest of the movie played properly. After the movie, I checked out both earlier scenes and they played without a problem.

This is not the first time I've had a Criterion disc freeze up on me. I had to get exchanges on The Princess Bride and Double Indemnity. I'll wipe off The Four Musketeers tomorrow before watching it.

Ended up being very happy with getting the Criterion release, after having gotten the StudioCanal releases last year. I loved the new 2.5-hour documentary, split up across the two discs, as well.
For once I dodged that bullet, and went 4K with the terrific Criterion release, which was manna from heaven for me when they announced it. Hurray! That makes at least 3 for me in this century.

Three Musketeers was very pixelated around 43:00 for about a minute. Took it out and cleaned it, but the problem persisted. I will be contacting Criterion, who have never let me down when there’s an issue.

I watched The Four Musketeers last night with no issues. Good non-pixelated fun.

Criterion did get back to me and said that they have heard of no issues with T3M and gave me instructions on how to clean the disc! As if I don't know what I am doing! Hrmph!
