Old Hollywood collides with New Hollywood, and screen horror with real-life horror, in the startling debut feature from Peter Bogdanovich. Produced by Roger Corman, this chillingly prescient vision of American-made carnage casts Boris Karloff as a version of himself: an aging horror-movie icon whose fate intersects with that of a seemingly ordinary young man (Tim O’Kelly) on a psychotic shooting spree around Los Angeles. Charged with provocative ideas about the relationship between mass media and mass violence, Targets is a model of maximally effective filmmaking on a minimal budget and a potent first statement from one of the defining voices of the American New Wave.

Very excited for this one after the BFI release was unexpectedly cancelled last year.
The BFI was just removed from their schedule owing to issues with Paramount. It should be back on track now as this edition is happening. I can't say I like the Criterion cover above

I'm buying this ... but wouldn't it have been cool if a copy of THE TERROR had been included as a special feature?

If so, why would you want an inferior scan of it, MGM should still have the negative and good prints.
That's true. But a pretty good Blu-ray was released by The Film Detective a few years ago according to this review from DVD Beaver. It would be a nice extra to be included in the same package with TARGETS.
