A deadly game of chance and destiny plays out against the stark backdrop of early-1980s West Texas in Joel and Ethan Coen’s powerful adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s novel. When he happens upon more than two million dollars from a drug deal turned desert massacre, a retired welder and Vietnam veteran (Josh Brolin) sets into motion a wave of senseless, inexorable violence as he’s stalked across the plains by a soul-weary sheriff (Tommy Lee Jones) and a psychopathic hit man (Javier Bardem). Winner of four Academy Awards—including Best Picture, and Best Supporting Actor for the indelibly disturbing Bardem—this darkly deadpan borderlands noir keeps both the tension and the existential unease mounting through each cruelly ironic twist of fate.

No Country For Old Men managed to sell out before the date of release. This is great for Criterion (and us). Their very strong end-of-year sales will enable them to keep their collection remarkably diverse.

I ordered my copy from The Atomic Movie Store and got it WAY early - the beginning of last week. I haven't had time to watch it yet. Looking forward to it!

Well, don't get rid of it yet, the Coens have recut their films for some releases. They recut the Criterion version of Miller's Crossing. I don't know what they have done here, but hopefully it is the full theatrical version.
I don't think so with this particular film with it winning so many Oscars including Best Picture. The press release says it's 122 minutes like the Blu-ray. Anyhow, it was released today so people that have it can confirm it or not.

Even Criterion is back ordered so I ordered it today from them and paired it with the January 28th release of Winchester ‘73. Hopefully, it will be back in-stock by then.

I was unable to place an order through Criterion for No Country For Old Men just now (had a couple of gift certificates to use). From my wishlist, it says "currently unavailable", and from the actual item's page it says "out of stock" and will only let me order the BD.

The Amazon website let me order it and gives an estimated delivery date between February 3rd - February 5th 2025.

I'm not sure that its Oscar wins would prevent the Coens from editing the movie if something about it nagged at them and they thought they needed to "fix" it.

With Miller's Crossing, they never even announced it as a "directors' cut" or anything. They just tried to slip the changes past everyone and hope nobody would notice.
