Can you be more specific about what this means to those of us who don't know what you mean?
The criterion forum has uncovered phantom pages on the website for actors and crew of films that criterion hasn't released that match up with the films he listed and others, which some have speculated means those films are forthcoming.
No, the MGM is what 98% of the people all over the world saw and the MGM Blu-ray of that cut is superb. Once again, just to remind those who need reminding, the ONLY people who saw the complete roadshow cut (which is NOT what's on the laserdisc) had to have seen it at the Cinerama Dome during it's first four weeks - the cuts were made during that time, and that became the version seen by everyone whether roadshow or in general release after that. The general release version was further shorn of overture, entr'acte, police calls and exit music but the content was the same as the second roadshow edited version which played after the first four weeks.
Tony, Moe explained what I was talking about. Here, for example, are the phantom pages for THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY:
Lee Van Cleef
If Criterion plans to release THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY (1966) I hope they will include a new hi-def transfer of the superior 161-minute theatrical version which I saw many times.
But how likely is that, with MGM/Fox's blu-ray still being sold for about $10 everywhere you look.
As likely as them doing Mad World...
Not too unlikely. Both Dazed and Confused and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas have cheap studio blu rays in release concurrent with their Criterion counterparts.
And Brazil, and Traffic...
But in Brazil's case it's a cut not on the CC set,
Which may be the case with Mad World too...
I sure as hell do not want to buy that awful MGM release of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, i'd buy in a heartbeat the Italian release with English dialogue, if it happens i think releasing theatrical and the extended would be a good idea.
THE BROOD and SCANNERS are available in HD from iTunes, so I'm guessing that they'll be announced either this month or next
Looks like I Married A WitchLa Nottethe UninvitedSo far
Oh man, in all the sale excitement and other things going on, I forgot all about Criterion 15th! I'm in for Uninvited and Witch. Never seen them, but they sound cool.
Where are you guys hearing that Criterion is putting these flicks out, (I Married A Witch, La Notte, the Uninvited) or are you just speculating?
Finally THE UNINVITED?
Phantom pages. Is all on the big Criterion Forum.I always say its speculation when I'm speculating
Those phantom pages are one thing but I Married a Witch was in the newsletter as a drawing.
2/3 will be double dips for me. Got the MoC version of La Notta and just recently sprung for the UK release of The Uninvited. Still looking forward to them.
The pages added on release day have been accurate
