The only one I might be up for is Dance, Girl, Dance, but with the thousands real WB classics gathering dust on their shelves waiting for an HD upgrade, probably not. In the meantime, thank God for Kino. This will be the first time I won't visit B&N for the next Criterion sale. Nothing for me for months and months.
Not nearly what I was hoping for...
Well, it’s no Guy Yelling at Woman in Row Boat Swaddling Loaf of Bread, but I’m not an artist .
maybe if I’d repeated the picture to signify ’shorts’
Noticed a new Blu-ray of Fellini's 8 1/2 released by Cult Films is out in the UK. It has most of the extras as the Criterion but nothing on if it's a new transfer or not. Will wait for the Criterion box set that will come out this year.
Then I think you'd be on to something!
It looks like whenever we get The Cameraman, we’ll be getting Spite Marriage as well. James L. Neibaur posted this on his Twitter account:
CRITERION FLASH SALE Starting February 25, 2020 Noon ET for 24 HRS
Information received from Criterion rep via bluray.com moderator. This was the most likely date for the sale and the CSR has
been virtually 100% reliable in the past
The 50% off one-day offer is available in Canada, as well:
Le Petit Soldat
and if you want PRINCE OF TIDES, Unobstructed View has it for 40% off until release day.
I picked up Holiday and The Story of Temple Drake. Then I focused on things that are never on the shelves at B&N. I got Eclipse Series 10, 15 & 45, Martha Graham: Dance on Film and King of Kings.
I was thinking of picking up a couple titles, but I had trouble with their website. Every time I tried to add something to the shopping cart, the promotional thing about Paris Burning or something like that kept coming up on the screen. I wasn't able to click on any of the icons at the top of the right screen. I found this very frustrating. Anyway, the 2 titles I am most interested in, Destry Rides Again and Show Boat weren't included in the sale, because they're pre orders. I will wait for another sale on Criterion. There are plenty of other titles from Kino and Shout coming up soon that I want. A little at a time is the way to go right now.
I missed it. Bummer.
I had problems too. Trying to get Fail Safe(1963) and one other title but they kept coming up regular prices.
That is frustrating I know. I had trouble navigating their website.
That web site stinks.
I really dislike those sites that use constant scroll instead of next page.
You all should have tried unobstructed Virw!
I'd forgotten about the main list and just shop off my wishlist.
All the leftover titles I didn't get from prior Criterion/BN are already there so I rarely have to use anything other New releases or Upcoming every couple of months to update that group of 20-40 items.
I know at one point it had pages of 25 items that I found almost frustrating, but I guess in one of the later updates they removed that option. I agree they really should put an option for how many items per page, but with more than a couple choices. They really should also add a Release Date sort for folks looking for more than the last 3-4 months of Recent Releases. OTOH I prefer their one page/sort/filter over Amazon's 10-20 item per page and horrible filtering system. Browsing on Amazon is just brutally painful if you aren't going to look at a specific item. People have complained about DeepDiscount for as long as I cna remember, but their filtering and selections I find to be great now that they finally got their sort by price problem fixed a while back -- studio, sub-distributor, release date, format, price
Just started to watch John Ford’s THE LONG VOYAGE HOME, recorded from 31DAYS OF OSCAR on TCM, and to my surprise, the CRITERION logo and JANUS FILMS came on first thing.
Could a Blu Ray release be in the future?
